How was that marketing gimmick as I see they are still offering personal design card, do they charge for the card? And as asked by Alex, what is credit builder?

Slaypay open a loan account with one of their partners. What sets this apart is that the service appears to have a mechanism to show this loan as “closed” on credit bureaus without requiring users to make monthly loan payments (EMI). This strategic approach help individuals establish a positive credit history without the burden of regular loan payments. It’s mostly useful for the students and the people who want their first credit card and don’t have any prior credit history.

They also provide a prepaid card, which can be used for everyday spending, and an opportunity to earn a competitive 9% interest rate on peer-to-peer (P2P) investments, along with a virtual savings account with IDFC Bank. There’s some issue with the P2P investment plan. Many people complain about it, but the other services work well.

But do you have to take a loan with them or it’s not needed?

Actually, they don’t provide a loan in real. Instead, they just report it as a loan to credit bureaus. The more we spend in a month, the higher the credit limit for that specific month. There’s also an option in the app to deactivate the credit builder as well.

While it’s good for customers but I don’t think RBI allows such practice

Yes. Exactly! I am also concerned about that. That is not real data. It is just simulated.

While it may be a good thing for new credit users to build the credit score, it may be bad for the credit system.

Update: Today, I have installed the app, and I’m unable to log in to the app after several tries. The app’s service might be affected by new rules regarding credit policies. I would like to say that it was not an ethical practice in the fintech sector. Still, the app is available on the Play Store and App Store. You can take a look around.

Marketting was before the launch of product. Had a waitlist. It was promoted heavily .
To onboard faster we were required to pay 50Rs(I don’t remember the amount) and we received an half baked product with lots of bugs .

Payments didn’t work most of the time. Had issues like that for me. I had money in the wallet but no way to use for 2 weeks or something :smiling_face_with_tear:.

Once it started working, I spent all the amount and stopped using it. Now my slaypay account is frozen. It is showing they will fix it within 2 days and it’s been months. I never went back.

This is not fair. Doesn’t matter what the amount is.

All your customers should be treated equally. The customer has come to the company believing it will give good service. But if the company is going to profit of the hype, the question comes will the service be given only to people who pay. Then it should become a subscription based company/business.

Also one cannot buy their way out of everything.

Welcome aboard @Nabeel_Ahmad!

Even though it is your Experian credit score, it is :fire:

You should also check your Cibil score as it’s more reliable and mostly accepted by banks and others. I’m assured that your cibil score is also high.

Include me too in this list
I can’t even remember the last time I logged into that app. I spent all my money and uninstalled the app.
@Dev7 They don’t provide any personalized or customized prepaid cards. This is what they ‘advertised’ on their website when they launched (to date, it is the same . )

This is the card they offer everyone in reality.

Yeah I also checked the website, the design of card they are offering now is giving me odd feelings😂

I see spacefire colours! I thought it was ours for a second :blob_worried:
