What's your take on Credit Cards? 💳

I use my cards mainly for the travel benefits. I do as many transactions as I can on them to get to the milestone benefits I use the Amex Platinum Charge specifically because of the amazing memberships it offers. And Citi premier miles for, well, miles. I basically only use UPI when there is not a card machine or despite having a machine the merchant refuses to accept them.

I believe that having cards for lifestyle, reward and travel should cover majority of customer needs.

How about adding a benefit of an individual Health Insurance along with standard credit card features?
Also, would e great if it’s possibly a lifetime free CC.

i guess initially they are providing to only salaried people but later on it will be available to everyone.

Yeah, I would love to, but my HR is not willing to change from their partner banks. (Only a choice between HDFC, ICICI, Axis, and IDFC). I’m with HDFC.

I’d rather prefer a credit line than a full blown credit card. To me, credit cards are terrifying.

How about relaxed credit score requirements and start with simpler buy now - pay later credit lines within the app? The more transactions, the higher the credit limit gets. We keep the limit reasonably well ofcourse, and sensibly!

Why is it terrifying for you ?

I got my first credit card durin my irresponsible early 20s. Blew a ton of cash that I didn’t have. reaped a bad credit score that took a long time to fix.

In hindsight, I feel uncomfortable with the notion of high stakes credit. The money doesn’t belong to you-or me. It’s someone else’. The moment you get ensnared, they own you. Considering how unpredictable the future may get, you may Not be able pay it back.

Sigh, ptsd I guess.

Thus my avarice to credit cards in general. Pay later apps are a different ball game together tho. For starters i feel comfy at not having a huge amount laid out to tempt me much.

Ok. So it was all about discipline I guess and most of us lacked that a decade back.
I am of the view that if you use credit card in a disciplined way it is rewarding. Else the stakes are high. It has been rewarding for me till now.
I generally pay my card due amount within a week of using it.

Recently I have been using slice credit card and it’s really quite good and user-friendly. And if you guys launch a dual card then ofcourse it will be a hit in market as no other companies have yet launched a similar card like that. And I guess the reward system you guys are giving in Jupiter debit card is quite good. And if someone gets a leverage to spends through a single card and earn double the reward then what else can anyone ask for. Go for it guys :+1:

There’s alot for terms and conditions on cashbacks and offers hidden in the bank websites. no one reads them. Nothing is upfront but slice sparks make it easy and it’s 2.5% rewards on transactions. They have got a separate offers section with codes. Offers are not improvised in Jupiter mainly. I can see slice offers on most of the merchant websites and apps.

@Subhodeep slice is credit card? Are you sure?

Not subodheep, but yes. I asked Slice the same question. Irked me a lot when I couldn’t figure out their business model from their website. So clever they didn’t bother mentioning they are a “credit” firm in their website or YouTube ads.

I tweeted them with my dilemma. Had a quick convo with a support rep who did admit it’s a credit card and not debit (or anything else).

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::face_with_hand_over_mouth::face_with_hand_over_mouth::face_with_hand_over_mouth::face_with_hand_over_mouth::face_with_hand_over_mouth::face_with_hand_over_mouth::face_with_hand_over_mouth::face_with_hand_over_mouth::face_with_hand_over_mouth::face_with_hand_over_mouth::sob::sob::sob::sob::sob:
They’re claiming to be a credit card ???

Yep, Slice is a “credit challenger” card.
I need to make a correction. The convo I had was with uni card and not slice., and apparently they are a “pay later” card. Oddly enough they still need your credit scores though, which makes it seem pointless to me.

Why pick uni when I can also pick ICICI or maybe HDFC?

Here’s the screenshot:

This is an area where I feel Jupiter can make a difference. A sizeable portion of our country is under served because the mainstream credit lenders rule them out. It’d be cool if we could offer tiny credit products with less emphasis on credit scores, and as the customer keeps paying back on time, we find a way to increase that limit + assist in building their scores back up (if possible).

Slice is also a BNPL card and it shows as a consumer loan on your CIBIL and not a credit card in any way. Also they keep changing their partner NBFC every now and then - these nbfc’s open another loan account on your PAN without the previous one being closed and are very irregular in terms of compliance - ruining your CIBIL in the process.
