It may not cater to everyone’s needs, like yours, but there exists a specific demand which justifies the existence of this category of business.
I often go for prepaid cards when it comes to collecting cards because many newly launched apps offer them free of charge.
As Abhishek mentioned, various prepaid cards cater to the needs of different categories. For instance, cards like FYP and Junio are focused for minors, while Pepper Money focuses on providing 1% cashback on city-specific rewards (which may not be available with most debit cards—If am right, still only a few have credit card access).
Regarding insurance, I have yet to come across a person or hear news of someone receiving an insurance amount linked to their ATM card in the event of loss
@LordKrishna you can think of it like this…
Using the analogy of prepaid vs postpaid mobile connections, people still prefer prepaid mobile connections over postpaid connections because it’s easier to maintain and doesn’t have extra charges.
Yes postpaid and credit cards are convenient. But not all people are eligible for it or want it.
There is opportunity for so many Fintech companies because of the varied interests of consumers.
Kotak spendz also give 1% cashback
Some prepaid instruments like Slice and OmniCard have UPI interoperability and provide free Visa or RuPay cards without any AMC along with UPI features. Additionally, there are no hidden charges. So, we can use them like a bank account and it’s more convenient to use.
Omnicard issuance charges is 249rs
If am not wrong , I got the omnicard and (that old blue color version) and their NFC keychain for free when they launched their app.
Recently I tried to login their app and it was unsuccessful. I think my account got deactivated due to inactivity
The virtual OmniCard is free for everyone. The Physical card was previously priced at ₹99 including delivery fee. However, we can get the physical OmniCard for free by redeeming our OMNIs. I got my card for free using this method along with a Rupay On-the-go Keychain.
Today I received slice card. They also improve the packaging
Feels solid!
Big difference
Then vs now
500 vs 5000
But this combination of a prepaid card and UPI works so well. If they provide a virtual bank account along with that card, it will be the cherry on top. However, to my knowledge, some apps like Antpay, InstantPay, etc. provide a virtual card along with a virtual savings account at any of the commercial banks in India, mostly Yes Bank or ICICI.
Is there any free prepaid card except slice, galgal n pepper money?
My Slice Card shipment is pending with the Delhivery company. They have misrouted my card several times, even after I mentioned my full address clearly. But, I’ve got a Pepper Money card recently through Ecom Express without any issues.
How did you check delivery status of your slice card? Did you get tracking link from customer care?
It is available in the app itself which redirect u to the shiprocket site or whatever they r using to send the card mine got delivered yesterday
@saurabhsaha Why get both? Any advantages of one over the other?
I am trying to understand the prepaid card space. I want to get Pepper Money. But without the support for UPI, I am not interested.
In the app where? I can’t seem to find it
Slice have 1%cb on the card. & U get some spark offers. (10-20% cb in some brands). This offer refresh every week.
