What baffled me is the some bit of similarities in Zepto and Dunzo’s model. Yet Zepto goes to attain the Unicorn status and Dunzo is struggling

True @yagnesh01

Just my hypothesis - problem went down south for Dunzo when they entered in dark store model for 10 mins delivery. If your model of delivery for other b2b partnerships and delivery at specific time is working for you then why to enter into new domain on FOMO.

They were also fine when they were having a model (pay x amount if you want delivery in y time → but then they went to free delivery above 90 minutes). I remember because I used them many times for ordering SKU’s where there are 0 margins.

If I am not wrong they also started utilising local stores in specific area as fulfilment centres. I witnessed that in my locality and believed was an interesting move versus investing in dark stores.

In my opinion where they probably suffered is giving the option to the user to pick the store where they want to order from. That meant if a particular item was not an available, the entire cart would get abandoned as no one would want to place to separate orders.

True @yagnesh01 I forgot to mention that. What logic is this? How can you expect to make money if you are reliant on an independent business for fulfillment? That independent store or fulfillment center operates for profit. Where’s the Dhandha mentality in this?

I remember the case study of Asian Paints. They have controlled the entire distribution chain, from manufacturing to selling.

A group of persons allegedly hacked into a payment gateway service provider company’s account and siphoned off funds worth over ₹16,180 crore from different bank accounts over a period of time, the Thane police said.

Which PG would be this

Yes, No name anywhere

Not sure but I think Paytm.

If you all remember, my paytm postpaid was hacked (No OTP no call) just an email after txns of 39k. I heard since some time many people faced same hacking attempt.

For that I raised complaints at Paytm postpaid, Nodal office of Paytm, Aditya Birla, Cyber crime but no resolution and on top my score declined by 47 points so instead of waiting for 2nd month I tried to make payment yesterday but for whole day I wasn’t able to make payment. Message received: your bank has declined the payment though I had necessary balance.

Just joining the dots.

Two transactions were completed [via hacking] in my paytm postpaid wallet: one for “Croma India” and one for “Titan,” and when I contacted Croma and Titan, they stated that the txn number provided did not exist at all.

How are vendors allowed to register with the names Croma and Titan? I am sure they would be validating KYC, is it? Or perhaps some employee registered these duplicate entities under target pressure.

I’m sorry to say that many CSP agents of Paytm Payments appear suspicious to me. Additionally, CSP agents of Fino Payments Bank and Airtel Payments Bank’s also engage in unethical practices such as issuing duplicate SIM cards and creating fake accounts without customer consent etc.

Some individuals engage in a form of forgery by withdrawing money from customers’ accounts without their knowledge and then disappear.

Is this still happening? I think Airtel Payments Bank was banned for these malpractices sometime back.

How is this possible? Don’t they need OTP or something?

How they managed to defraud you without the OTP is scary for me. It is a puzzle too.

Well in my case there was no OTP or Call so I can think they have a workaround.

Well still I am thinking in that lines but thinking doesn’t suffices on this as my score is going down (even though some else made his/her day) so within 2-3 days I will make the payment and then go towards another task of closing Paytm postpaid.

Yes. I am also thinking that. But that is not fair.

You can pay the money. But keep fighting. Don’t let this go.

Fight with whom?

  1. Unexistent customer service of Paytm [they have call only for paytm bank] and chat does not have such use case built in. 2) Nodal officer of Paytm who doesn’t even reply? 3) Aditya Birla, where they only provide canned response like “you will have to pay” 4) Cybercrime: they have given the acknowledgement but no status after that.

You can send a legal notice through a lawyer against Paytm Postpaid. That will make them take this seriously.

So these workarounds always worry me.

In Bhima Jewellers, I had a running monthly scheme. When I went to redeem it, they asked for a OTP. But I didn’t get the OTP SMS. After waiting for sometime, they gave me the goods without the OTP. While this ended up in favour for me, I am thinking there is no security in OTP.

Of course there I had to give an identity card and they also had a photo of me in the scheme application. But still workarounds are accessible to the employee and there is always a chance of malpractice.

Such occurrences still continue to take place across India, and they must be halted.

No, they suppress the OTP flow during a transaction. In the past, I’ve heard that they even changed the registered mobile number for DBS Bank and other banks without visiting a branch, even though it doesn’t belong to them.

Some also engage in forging documents like Aadhar and PAN cards, often creating fake SIM cards and taking loans in another person’s name. The last incident happened when even Bollywood celebrities complained about the Dhani app for taking personal loans in their name.
