At Jupiter, we’re gearing up to launch a variety of insurance plans this year — and we want you to help shape what they look like!
Why is this needed?
Insurance is often seen as complex, boring, or disconnected from everyday needs.
We’re trying to change that by offering simple, relevant, and value-packed plans that actually make sense for your life.
Our goal:
We would like to understand:
Current behaviors, identify gaps, and explore how we can make insurance both useful and rewarding for you.
Your experience with insurance products previously. Share your likes and dislikes and opinions in the thread below.
Some ideas
Some of our team members were brainstorming the other day, and we came up with some ideas. Jotting down some of them here:
Transaction Fraud Protection Plan
₹499/year | Covers up to ₹1L
Protection against phishing, unauthorised transactions, ATM transactions, device theft/loss, free driver’s licence, and PAN replacement.
You can purchase this plan for yourself or for anyone else, like your parents, who might be more prone to clicking on random links, etc.
Do you want freebies? If yes, what would you prefer? Some options:
OTT subscriptions like Sony LIV and Amazon Prime for a year
Built into your insurance — at no extra cost!
We would love to hear from you:
If you were to opt for an insurance plan, what kind of freebies or bundled perks would you genuinely find useful?
OTT subscriptions
YouTube Premium / Spotify Premium
Swiggy One, Zomato Gold
Brand vouchers / Discount codes
Free health checkups
0voters
Freebie suggestions!
If you have any other freebie suggestions, let us know in the thread below!
We want to know your favourite ones
Let us know what resonates — your vote and thoughts will help us build insurance products for Jupiter.
@Nidhi_Balaji Given the invreasing trend of digital frauds, this is a good initiative. I understand giving freebies is to soften the pich for the extra premium. I did vote for free health check ups. However, if possible please connsider the option to let go of the freebies for an instant discount on the upfront premium payment.
Keep them as low cost as possible. Do NOT give any free bee or add any frills. Try a combo of Life+Medical (IP & OPD Both)+ Accidental+ Mobile Cyber fraud. Let the customer choose the coverages. A lot of us need medical insurance for Parents & Kids with PEDs. You may put a condition of payment by Jupiter credit/debit card or account to just get some better margin; But do NOT make a another costly, complex & frill full option to just show that you are offering something. There a lot of sensible people who would like the core protection/coverage than the free bees or jargons.
Hey @yagnesh01 , just in case if you’re wondering if the cost has the freebies cost also, that’s not it. It’s freebies for a reason! There’s no cost to it.
The insurance plan, like the one mentioned above (Rs. 499) - that’s the actual cost for the plan. Subject to change though.
On another note, we did some user research and found that people want immediate value out of their insurance plan, esp. when the premium is paid upfront. Also, insurance is delayed gratification and long-term game.
Hey @Nidhi_Balaji, agreed they are freebies and they are not a part of the premium. Considering insurace products involve delayed gratification, when the overall cost for the product gets subsidised at the cost of letting go of a subscription plan or a free health checkup, the likelihood of someone investing in it, would see an uptick. Again, that’s my point of view. I look forward to the insurance product offerings being released on the app.
Yes, I Have more than required medical coverage due to personal experiences in past. I am a financial advisor & can suggest that make your protection offers better that Govt schemes, cheaper than retail personal plans & equally beneficial like employer offered group plans. There is a big name in payment app space who offers wallet protection in less than 499; which could be a competitor for your offers. Instead of giving screen OTT related freebies; offer D Mart kind of super mart coupons which add real saving to the core needs of the majority of your users.
If more questions are asked; I will take freebies before the core products as consultation fees from Jupiter
