What's your take on Credit Cards? 💳

Abdul, there is a possibility that your credit report is showing too many enquiries which is usually considered as a sign someone shopping around for too much credit. Enquiries stay on the credit report for as long as 6 months. Also, check your credit report for any adverse remarks.

Your observation on specific PIN codes not being the most favoured ones- that is correct. Officially no bank will agree to it.

They called me 5-6 times yesterday to apply for AU LIT card, they told me that it’s pre approved and lifetime free. I also got 4 calls from HDFC bank for credit card. But I already have Axis Bank credit card so I didn’t talk to those people.

I had 6 credit inquiries in my CIBIL report in the last 3 months. But still Axis Bank approved my credit card application because my CIBIL score was 755.

Manish, with the enquires spread across 3 months kind of helped. Remember, that’s not the only factor

Which one?

Don’t believe 3rd party pre approval offers, it’s always fake, they actually says u to apply the most preferred cc according your credit score. When you apply the bank check your data and risk policy… If eligible they approve or not eligible it’s declined, if approved the 3rd party will receive some money for referring… It’s not good for you credit score… If declined it’s hit your score :expressionless:

Well said bro :+1:
I was jumping out of joy when I received the pre-approved call/message initially  , but my excitement was short-lived as both my pre-approved offers for the Kotak League card and the SBI SimplyWave Card were rejected.

I’m not sure of the reason for this, but I have been getting multiple spam calls for credit cards for the past few months (2-3 months), mostly from YES BANK and HDFC Bank. I simply say that I’m not interested in any credit cards and immediately end the call.

Main reason for your pre-approved offers getting rejected is your CIBIL.
Pre-approved doesn’t guarantee you the successful application.
They check the eligibility criteria.
I feel you should get a secured card and use it for 6 months, so that you can build your credit score and then go for an unsecured card.

Location also plays an important role in pre approved offers, if you live in metro cities it is easier to get a pre approved cc.

@specter I have two secured cards brother- Onecard with an FD of 25000 and Paisabazaar’s Step UP card with a value of only 2000. I’m considering closing the Paisabazaar card because it’s the reason why I receive pre-approved offers that adversely affect my CIBIL score due to the numerous inquiries when I applied for both offers.

Yes, @Abhishek_Ulayil, I mentioned this in my earlier post and @yagnesh01 sir agreed as well. It appears that location plays a significant role as my Flipkart Axis card was declined not once but twice, while I know many, with a minimum income of 15000 residing in metro cities such as Ernakulam, got it approved without any physical document verification.

In this case, catching hold of a CC agent and apply through him manually. You will get for sure on C2C basis. They can help you with a trick.

What is your credit score. I think having too many credit cards decreases credit score. I was thinking to have multiple credit cards. Will it not decrease my credit score.

I have not seen this type of site yet. Can you please tell which is that site?

I think Flipkart was giving it’s pay later to teenagers (18 - 19 years) last year. Later than it stopped giving the limit to everyone.

The impact of too many revolving credit accounts (credit cards) ranges from high to low. In the short term, it does impact the score as it is assumed one is shopping for too much credit. As your card continues to age and if you have been able to maintain usage across cards and also keep the credit utilization low, the impacts start moving towards medium to low.

18.-19 are teenagers really??
