Yeah! So this has been requested before. The moderators also highlighted that they think pots are physically piggy banks.
However, that’s not how I, and it seems many others, use the feature.
I keep depositing a predictable amount of money into a pot called “car repairs” and when it’s time to service the car I pay from this pot. Now the paying part is very cumbersome, I have to first withdraw from the pot which now costs 2 hours.
Another example is if I have a medical account, so if a family member is ill, I may need to make several small payments over, say, 72 hours. It’s again cumbersome to pay from the main savings account and then calculate manually and withdraw from the pot.
Ideally, one should be able to add a pot as a linked account. So while scanning a QR code I have an option to pay.
This feature I do believe forces fiscal discipline like nothing else if the team can realize it. Maybe another type of pot (not backed by FD necessarily, the idea is not earning a return but keeping expense accounts segregated.
