So I’m heard from social media that there’s gonna be a 3rd devaluation in this card from October 10. Is this correct or just a rumor ?
Thank you for being an Edge+ CSB Bank RuPay Credit Card holder. We’re writing to let you know about a change in how your shopping rewards are earned, effective 10th October.
What’s changing
This update applies only to how the ‘Shopping’ rewards category is credited. Here’s how it will work:
• 5% jewels, instantly: Earned on every eligible transaction at our top rewards category merchants, credited to your account in real time, just like today.
• The remaining 45% jewels, at billing cycle-end: Credited if your total qualified spends for that billing cycle reach INR 15,000, bringing your total reward in this category to 50%. If the cycle closes below INR 15,000, the remaining 45% is cancelled for that cycle and won’t appear in your statement.
So during the month you may see jewels credited and then adjusted at cycle-end. That’s the mechanism working as described, and it resets each cycle.
Everything else stays exactly the same. All other reward categories, rates and thresholds are unaffected.
What counts toward INR 15,000
Qualified spends means spends that earn jewels. Categories that don’t earn jewels, including rent, utilities, fuel, insurance, wallet and gift card loads, tax and government payments, and EMI transactions, don’t count toward the INR 15,000 either. So your statement total and your qualifying total can be different figures.
The full list is in the terms linked above, and it’s worth checking your recent cycles against it.
What this means for you
If you use Edge+ as your regular everyday card and your qualified spends typically cross INR 15,000 in a cycle, you’ll keep earning the full 50% on shopping exactly as you do now.
If your qualified spends usually land below INR 15,000, you’ll earn 5% on shopping rather than 50%. For those cycles this is less than you earn today, and we’d rather set it out here than have you find it at cycle-end.
Why we are making this change
The 50% shopping rate is the most valuable benefit in the programme, and rewards programmes only stay strong when they’re built for sustained, everyday use. Attaching a condition to part of that rate lets us keep offering it at 50% rather than reducing it across the board.
And there’s good news for your travel plans
We’re also introducing a new card built to bring everything you need for travel into one place, coming soon. It will offer benefits on flight and hotel bookings, zero forex markup, airport benefits and travel insurance in a single, more complete travel proposition.
Your Edge+ card and its existing benefits continue as they are. As an existing Edge+ cardholder, the new card will be available to you at no joining fee. We’ll share full details and terms shortly.
Thank you for being part of the Edge+ CSB Bank Credit Card community. We’re grateful for your trust, and committed to making sure every swipe continues to deliver real value.
Now it’s time to close the card. This card is not worth anymore with too much conditions and restrictions like Jupiter UPI must be used. Maximum cashback for 10% category is 200rs. Now 15,000 per month spend for 200rs is around 200/15000 = 1.33%. Lot of lifetime free card offers 1.5% to 2% on UPI.
I think, you have misread the T&C or there is some confusion. The 10% cashback category still offers 10000 Jewels on shopping which is 2000 rupees, 5% cashback on Travel which is 1000 rupees and unlimited 5% cashback on others. The 200 rupees cashback cap is per transaction not the overall category. Even with the 15000 spends requirement, this is still the most rewarding rupay card in the market.
I understand the terms and conditions. There are already better cards in the market which gives 1.5% to 2% cashback Lifetime free. This card is not worth for 15,000 spend that too with 1% cashback.
I’m okay with Amazon pay ICICI and Flipkart Axis LTF.
Sure, please take the decision at it suits your lifestyle and requirements. You can close the card from the app by going to the setting section on the home page of CC.
