Concern regarding the new Edge+ Shopping Rewards changes from 10 October

Hi Jupiter team,

received the communication regarding the changes to the Edge+ Shopping rewards effective 10 October 2026, and I wanted to share my concern.

I currently use my Edge+ card regularly for shopping, but my natural spending is only around ₹6,000–₹7,000 per billing cycle. Under the current structure, I receive approximately ₹400 worth of rewards from my eligible shopping transactions, which is one of the main reasons I use the card.

As I understand the new structure, from 10 October I will receive only 5% Jewels instantly, while the remaining 45% will be credited only if I cross ₹15,000 of eligible shopping spend in the billing cycle.

For someone like me who naturally spends ₹6,000–₹7,000, this effectively reduces the shopping reward very substantially. I don’t want to artificially increase my spending just to cross a reward threshold.

I understand that reward programmes need to remain sustainable, but I would request Jupiter to consider an option for customers with lower but genuine regular spending. For example, a lower threshold or a reasonable minimum reward rate for customers who don’t cross ₹15,000 would make the card much more useful.

I genuinely like using Jupiter and Edge+, but with this change, the primary reason for using the card for shopping will largely disappear for customers like me.

Could the Jupiter team please clarify whether there are any plans to provide a meaningful reward structure for customers who naturally spend below ₹15,000 per billing cycle?

Thanks.

Thank you for being an Edge+ CSB Bank RuPay Credit Card holder. We’re writing to let you know about a change in how your shopping rewards are earned, effective 10th October.

What’s changing

This update applies only to how the ‘Shopping’ rewards category is credited. Here’s how it will work:

• 5% jewels, instantly: Earned on every eligible transaction at our top rewards category merchants, credited to your account in real time, just like today.

• The remaining 45% jewels, at billing cycle-end: Credited if your total qualified spends for that billing cycle reach INR 15,000, bringing your total reward in this category to 50%. If the cycle closes below INR 15,000, the remaining 45% is cancelled for that cycle and won’t appear in your statement.

So during the month you may see jewels credited and then adjusted at cycle-end. That’s the mechanism working as described, and it resets each cycle.

Everything else stays exactly the same. All other reward categories, rates and thresholds are unaffected.

What counts toward INR 15,000

Qualified spends means spends that earn jewels. Categories that don’t earn jewels, including rent, utilities, fuel, insurance, wallet and gift card loads, tax and government payments, and EMI transactions, don’t count toward the INR 15,000 either. So your statement total and your qualifying total can be different figures.

The full list is in the terms linked above, and it’s worth checking your recent cycles against it.

What this means for you

If you use Edge+ as your regular everyday card and your qualified spends typically cross INR 15,000 in a cycle, you’ll keep earning the full 50% on shopping exactly as you do now.

If your qualified spends usually land below INR 15,000, you’ll earn 5% on shopping rather than 50%. For those cycles this is less than you earn today, and we’d rather set it out here than have you find it at cycle-end.

Why we are making this change

The 50% shopping rate is the most valuable benefit in the programme, and rewards programmes only stay strong when they’re built for sustained, everyday use. Attaching a condition to part of that rate lets us keep offering it at 50% rather than reducing it across the board.

And there’s good news for your travel plans

We’re also introducing a new card built to bring everything you need for travel into one place, coming soon. It will offer benefits on flight and hotel bookings, zero forex markup, airport benefits and travel insurance in a single, more complete travel proposition.

Your Edge+ card and its existing benefits continue as they are. As an existing Edge+ cardholder, the new card will be available to you at no joining fee. We’ll share full details and terms shortly.

Thank you for being part of the Edge+ CSB Bank Credit Card community. We’re grateful for your trust, and committed to making sure every swipe continues to deliver real value.

Thank you for clarifying the mechanism. However, I have one concern: what about customers whose genuine qualified spending is only around ₹6,000–₹7,000 per billing cycle and who do not naturally spend ₹15,000? For such customers, the effective shopping reward will drop from 50% Jewels to only 5% Jewels. Does Jupiter have any plan to provide a meaningful reward structure for these customers as well, rather than requiring them to increase their spending to ₹15,000 every cycle?

You are welcome. We are working on that plan too and you will have some update before end of the coming quarter.

Thank you for considering this and for taking the feedback seriously. I’ll look forward to the update. Hopefully, there will be a meaningful option for customers with lower but regular spending as well.

We are working on this, will have some update in the coming quarter, rest assured.

Thank you for the assurance. Appreciate you taking feedback from lower-spend users into consideration. Looking forward to the update.

Hi Rohit Sir,

I am a member of 4000 credit user community and jupiter user from 18th dec 2023. After you have devalued the card most of the people are thinking about cancellation of the cards. 15k is too much so i request you either decrease it to 10k or add utility bill payment under 10% catagory.

I also wanna know that suppose I spend 6k on amazon+ 6k on Flipkart and 4k in upi scan and pay, then will I get full 50% jewells or only 5% jewells.

Plz clear this doubt.

Thanks,

Gaurav Garg.

Hi Gaurav,

First of all, we have not devalued the card, the value proposition around 50% Jewels for shopping, 25% for Travel, 5% for Others remains the same. We have only added a criteria so that people use this card frequently, the value proposition was designed for frequent spends not occasional spends. Additionally, we have improved the value prop by offering Master Card variant with zero forex fees and airport benefits to all the existing users at zero cost starting second week of October.

INR 15000 worth of transaction can include transactions made using any mode - card/upi and it can be on my MCC. However, 50% will be awarded only on the eligible spends after someone reaches INR 15000 i.e. out of INR 15000 spends, if only 2000 towards Myntra then 50% will be given on 2000 (with transaction capping applied).

We are also working on a construct for low spenders and will have some update before end of coming quarter.

Earlier in this very post you said Qualified spends means spends that earn jewels, Categories that don’t earn jewels don’t count toward the INR 15,000 either but now you saying INR 15000 worth of transaction can include transactions made using any mode - card/upi and it can be on any MCC

Please clarify on this

We will be sending an official clarification over email in the next 24 hours.

Hi just wanted to know,

If i spend today 10,000 on edge + card, and new rules come in effect 10 october and my billing date is 17 october statement cycle, so jewels earned today will those be reversed at statement generation, or all spends done before 10 october counts as previous calculation, even though statement will be generated on 17 october

Good question. This rule will come into effect only when the new cycle starts after 10th of Oct i.e. for you, the 15K logic will be applicable from 17th October. Hope this helped.

Will the new mastercard variant be a new card/account on CIBIL or will it be a single credit card account for both Edgeplus CSB Rupay + Mastercard? (for example Dual cards like Scapia)?

It will be dual cards like Scapia.

So, this means the 17 Sep–16 Oct, 27 Sep–26 Oct, and 7 Oct–6 Nov all billing cycles which starts before 10 OCT remain under the old reward structure and all spends done before 10 October (even done after 10 October) will be calculated as per old reward structure, even though their statement will be generated after 10 October ?

That’s great! I’m eagerly waiting for it

When is it getting launched?

I spend 6k and gets 600 rs as RP jewels. I use this card as 10% RP as opposed to 5% HDFC milenia.

I don’t do flipkart or nyka every month. I only buy from Amazon. Mostly giftcards, since Amazon does not block those MDR.

If you make me spend 15k and gives me 600 only. It then be 4% RP.

In that case I will just use HDFC milenia or SBI CB card. Will only use continue using it if gives me 7.5% flat returns of my 15k spend or keep the old structure same.

I think 90% people would do the same.

You missed that fact that that in INR 15000, you are also getting 5% rewards on others category and if you booked a flight ticket etc. it will be considered under 25% rewards separately.

Sir,

I want to give you a suggestion to add a spend tracker after new reward structurer, so that we know how much spend we need to complete more to get 50% rewards.

Thanks
