One of Google’s big payments and privacy announcements at I/O 2022 is a very convenient feature that masks your physical credit card with a virtual one when shopping online with Chrome.

RBi’s tokenisation

So this is like a mask that hides your actual card details.
Does that mean the virtual card will have a different card number and other details?

Its a rbi tokenisation system check the circular.

Yeah, it’s a lite version of the tokenized cards feature we’ve on Google Pay right now, but for the web.

It won’t reveal our card details, but a random virtual one to the merchants. Thus, enhancing security.

And the interesting thing is that it is disposable (one time use) card number but cannot be used for subscription.
