Just Like @yagnesh01 sir , I too have never tried using a password manager due to the same fear.
However, I have also not written my passwords in a diary or used a secondary WhatsApp account like @Pratyay_Mustafi.

I have noticed that many female teachers follow the practice of writing down their passwords in a diary, which always makes me wonder what would happen if someone else got hold of it. It’s like writing your ATM pin number on the signature panel at the back, which many people still do  .

joking, what if your diary gets stolen one day? :slightly_smiling_face:

I normally autosave my password in chrome or google itself :slightly_smiling_face:

The code to the safe is only known to me, not even to my wife.

On a lighter note - I will be reaching out to the community here to seek life support. LOL!!

Let me guess… :eyebrow: :eyebrow:
The passcode for the safe is 1234

Many of the password managers uses their database check for stolen email ID and pass.

I have enabled 2fa for my password manager also and that seed is printed out and kept offline at two locations as some random text .

Many of the password managers also offer hardware key support too.

What some people does is if they will save the password as ā€˜jupiter-is-nice’ in password managers but actually every single of their passwords have an extra tail like ā€˜jupiter-is-nice-9xby’ which they will type in manually after autofilling.

This is reassuring. I will have to get over the pre-conceived notion that even password managers are no safe.

I have a different way to save passwords, I create a PDF file by writing all my passwords and then password protect it. Then upload it to google drive. Whenever I need to copy and paste a username and password, I do so by opening the PDF from the Google Drive app right away. Is it a safe way to save passwords?

I would say yes. I am sure you’ve ensured the password is fairly strong to ensure no one enters a guessing contest.

Yes, I use a strong password for the PDF file as well. Thanks for making me sure.

I have three bank accounts every bank has different upi pin.

4 email with different password.

Bank of India internet banking login password, transaction password both are different.

Facebook, Instagram,Amazon, Flipkart have different passwords and i use Microsoft Authentication app for two step verification.

And every password is combination of special characters, capital word, small word and number and I remember all of them.

Wondering what if you forget the password of that pdf file !!!

:+1: :+1: :+1:

My usual password Cycle:

  • Create a Strong Password
  • Forget after few weeks
  • Tries various combinations
  • Going for the Reset Password option
  • Getting the message ā€œYour new Password cannot be the same as your current passwordā€

I can never forget this password. Because it is very interesting to remember whether it is my own creation rather than a random creation. So never thought of forgetting it.

I use Brave browser which is powered by Web 3.0.
Stores passwords locally rather than on cloud like Google or microsoft.
I only store the passwords which I don’t find much harmer like social media and shopping accounts.
I have even activated TOTP as 2FA for them as an added security layer.
Coming to passwords of important accounts like mail and banking, I never save them anywhere digital.
I just remember them and update it to my family just in case of emergency and ask them not to write it anywhere too but to just remember.
And I have even explained them how to recover in cases of emergency if they forget it.
Mobile number is he key to everything these days.

Nope.
Most of the time i use primary bank account for maximum upi transaction so upi pin remain same.
